2023 Winner: Joanne Gillespie, Surveyor, JBG Marine Solutions
Many congratulations to Joanne Gillespie, our inaugural Industry Achievement Award winner. Joanne was kindly nominated for this award, the submission of which highlighted her enthusiasm and dedication to the marine insurance industry, and she was most shocked on discovering she was the recipient! Joanne also took part in the final ICIC agenda panel session “The Generation Game” with other Award winners: Jodie Watson (Recognition of Excellence) and Benson Ye (AIMU).
Sadly the sponsor of the award, David Maloof, was unable to attend ICIC in person, but congratulated Jo via pre-recorded video. The award was presented by Robert Falvey, who kindly stepped in for David. Here is an exert of the nomination for Joanne: |
“Joanne has spent her entire career in Marine insurance and Maritime Law. She began her profession in London as a solicitor but after more than five years, made the move to America to become an Adjuster/Surveyor. After spending over 22 years working for other companies, she made the bold move in 2021 to start her own company. Although she is highly regarded in the industry, it was a massive achievement and she successfully created a thriving woman owned business.
Joanne’s expertise in marine insurance has been instrumental in resolving complex and challenging cases that involve maritime claims. Her in-depth knowledge of the industry, coupled with her ability to identify and filter the relevant data, has enabled her to provide valuable insights into claims for marine insurance.
Joanne’s professionalism and integrity are reflected in her approach to every loss. She has a meticulous eye for detail, and her tenacity is second to none. She is also a great team player, always willing to lend her expertise and experience to colleagues and clients.”
Congratulations, Joanne!!
