The German Insurance Association GDV Gesamtverband der Deutschen Versicherungswirtschaft e.V. released its ‘Clause for the Exclusion of Loss/Damage due to a Dangerous Communicable Disease for the Use in Marine Insurance (“Pandemic Exclusion Clause”)’ in July 2021. Apart from the exclusion clause, GDV offers three different write back clauses for the marine insurance of vessels, for the insurance of cargo and for the insurance of liability insurance for carriers, freight forwarder and warehouse operators. Merchant Navy Medal Award to Captain John L David MNM FNI SCR

The Merchant Navy Medal, for services to the Merchant Navy, maritime careers and education, has been awarded to
Capt John L David. He spent 21 years at sea, world-wide, which included serving 5 years as Master.

The Medal is awarded annually, without bias towards age or rank, to those eligible seafarers who are judged to have made a worthwhile contribution to merchant shipping, its operations, development, personnel, education, welfare or safety, or who have performed an act of courage afloat.

Captain John is enormously proud and honoured, to have been granted this award.  In addition, he has been awarded the Freedom of the City of London; a member of the Honourable Company of Master Mariners; a Shipwright; and especially to
​have been awarded a Fellowship by the Nautical Institute; all of whom have, for many, many years been working and building our great, ever changing, and always improving, Merchant Navy.
